DWP debt repayment

Hello, I claimed and received Universal Credit when I was made redundant a few years back now and I had the loan that they offer.

I pay it back in installments per month and log in and pay by card, however this month I forgot to log in and it's been seven days since the deadline for my installment. When I now log in it says 'You can no longer access this service. Alternative arrangements have been made. If you need further advice, contact Debt Management.'

So what happens next? I'm scared 😥

Debt management is just part of the department that looks after debts. I guess you have broken the agreement to pay by card so they may want to set up a direct debit . If you can afford it you may be better paying it off in a lump sum( assuming that it has decreased a lot )
If no arrangement to repay is made Debt management will then send it to debt collectors who can arrange an attachment of wages to be certain of getting their money back.
But call them and they will explain what your options are better than I can ( been a while since I dealt with them) . They are always very busy so I would try and call them first thing in the morning or later in the day .

@Titterofwit Thank you for your kind reply. I will certainly call them tomorrow to sort hopefully. I do hope they haven't already passed to a debt collection agency :(

You’re probably better off working with a debt collection agency anyway!
