To think that it's possible to prove historical rape/emotional abuse?

I was raped by the first boyfriend I ever had when I was 16. I was also emotionally/financially abused by my ex two and a half years ago.

Im just sat here in a huge rage that they just get to get away with all of this and I still have to deal with the long term emotional damage of it all.

If I wanted to bring this to justice somehow, would I even stand a chance?!

Blunt answer no, but depends on what you need from it.

I reported at point it was an historical crime, got no where with prosecution, but it got me closure and access to counselling. Even though he didn't get close to a court room the process helped me. The CPS are shit and won't bother, but I took solace that I did my bit.

I'm in the same boat. I knew there would be historical evidence in my social services and medical records, so I applied for them and they have been destroyed. My medical records have been digitised with huge amounts of info missing, including an operation.
I received a written apology from Social Services, and my GP. I know that's as much as I'll get, and I haven't bothered to report to the police.
Unless you have cast iron evidence I think you'll get more understanding and support from other survivors than the justice system. If you do decide to report, do it for other potential victims, that way you can't be disappointed.

Yes it is and it happens.

No.rape happening now doesn't even get justice.anything.
Sorry

TheGirlOnTheDragon · 06/06/2022 02:30

No. 😔 Evem at the time, a miniscule percentage of rapes are reported and a miniscule percentagw of them result in prosecution. The whole system is a disgrace. I am so sorry - I know how this feels - but you would put yourself through hell and you would likely get nowhere in terms of any justice. I am so sorry OP. Do you have some therapy to at least work through your trauma? Flowers

Would it help you if you did report it ?
Have you had any counselling ?
