Baby name initials FEC

HeartofAss · 05/06/2022 07:35

Would baby name initials FEC be okay?

Last name is 2 names, E and C. (Not hyphenated, just 2 names.) We are considering F name for first name and R for second. So full initials would be FREC, shorter initials would be FEC

Is this too close to FECK and is FECK too rude??? Or is it far enough away, and feck not so rude anyway?

I think it's fine, especially because of the middle name too

MistyRuins · 05/06/2022 07:42

I think it's okay.

Feck is a) fairly mild and b) not used as a personal insult.

girlmom21 · 05/06/2022 07:46

Why would anyone even consider the initials? I think it's a complete non-issue.

Burgerqueenbee · 05/06/2022 07:52

I have never met anyone in real life who has worried about initials like this. My friend's initials are LOL, but other than a joke about how it wouldn't have been a problem 30 years ago no-one has even mentioned it - how often do you really think it will come up?!

Really?

Interesting. When I had my babies, more than one person sounded out the initials to see if they made a word or were a common acronym.

I think it's pretty normal to think about initials when naming a baby. (And tbf to op, she doesn't seem worried, she's just asking the question. No visible angst.)

HeartofAss · 05/06/2022 07:59

Well, I am guessing the answers would be different if the initials were FUK!

Everyone naming a baby should consider the initials, surely? I'm not from the UK so wanted to check how these ones would be received here. Swear words are very cultural

FEC is fine, FUK would be different!

Scrowy · 05/06/2022 08:08

It means Faecal Egg Count in farming circles (a measure of whether you need to worm your sheep or not) but as long as you don't move in farming circles I can't see that being your issue with the initials Grin

MagicTurtle · 05/06/2022 08:09

FEC is fine

Mistyhydrangea · 05/06/2022 08:11

Before I was married my initials were FEC. It wasnt a problem unless you watched Father Ted! Tbh no kids said anything it was a family running joke that it was FEC! I found it funny.

Ohdoleavemealone · 05/06/2022 08:13

Sat here wondering what the problem was until you spelt it out for me tbh.

I think its fine.

Future England Captain, not sure which sport though.

Well don't use the initials then if you're worried...

There's no point asking if it's an issue if you're then going to claim it definitely is an issue to anyone who suggests otherwise.

@girlmom21 I think you might want to work on your reading comprehension.

Op didn't say it's definitely an issue. And nowhere has she said she is worried.

Rubyupbeat · 05/06/2022 08:35

I have a friend who's initials are C.U.N.T he finds it hilarious whenever it comes up. His parents are from another country, so it didn't mean a thing to them when naming him.

girlmom21 · 05/06/2022 08:42

@MistyRuins you might want to read her second post and consider a little bit of context

JenniferBarkley · 05/06/2022 08:58

I worked in a job where we signed our initials on every piece of work. Some people were known by their initials affectionately. Having initials like FUK would definitely have been less than desirable.

I think FEC is fine (Irish and say feck every other word).

I base my opinions on the facts I see, not assumptions based on what I think someone means.

There's a big difference between 'wanting to check' and 'worried about'. And given that someone else has said 'FUK' would be different...

StripeyDeckchair · 05/06/2022 10:01

This is where I share the information that I know someone who deliberately named his son so that the initials were MOET.

Says everything about him without actually having to day anything.so
