I'm annoyed at this

At the Queen's Jubilee, why don't ex spouses of royals get an invite to events. For example- Sarah Ferguson and Autumn Philips. It's like just because you divorce your husband your thrown on the scrap heat and are Persona non grata.

So current spouse and all the exes get invited ? Sounds wrong to me.

This is such a wierd question.
It would be more wierd to have invited the EXs

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/06/2022 18:34

You’re either in the Firm or you’re not.

TeenPlusCat · 04/06/2022 18:35

Surely exes don't normally get invited to family events, unless it is an event primarily for a shared child?

Do you invite your ex's to your Christmas dinner table?

Or are they ex's and everyone has moved on?

Honaloulou · 04/06/2022 18:35

I wouldn't expect an invite to a party for my ex's granny, would you?

GrandSlamFinale · 04/06/2022 18:35

Why are you annoyed? Unless you’re called Sarah Ferguson or Autumn Phillips?

cushioncovers · 04/06/2022 18:36

Really? So if my father has a special 80th birthday party I have to invite my exh?

CheshireCats · 04/06/2022 18:36

But if you or I are divorced, we wouldn't be getting an invite to ex's grannies birthday party, so why would the Royal Family be any different?

MiniCooperLover · 04/06/2022 18:36

Fergie has been invited to things in the past but her close links to Andrew probably means that kept her off the guest list. Convenient he had Covid isn't it ...

Also Autumn is the American ex wife of a grandson, that doesn't merit an invite to me 🤷‍♀️ I doubt she's that much of a royalist and their divorce was quite recent

custardbear · 04/06/2022 18:37

If I had a family party I wouldn't invite ex boyfriends (I'd say husbands but I'm still on number 1)

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 04/06/2022 18:37

So many RIDICULOUS threads tonight!! It's almost as if...

Testina · 04/06/2022 18:37

🤣 taking this to a commoner level.. I did not expect an invitation to XMIL’s 80th.
She’s not my family.
That said, I knew her for years and my ex and his second wife said she’d love it if I came, as I’m the mother of her grandchildren - and as I say, someone I knew for years.
But expect? No.
I wouldn’t have felt excluded.

HereIAmBrainTheSizeOfAPlanet · 04/06/2022 18:38

That you, Fergie?

Testina · 04/06/2022 18:38

For all you know of course, Sarah and Autumn were both invited and waved it at their current squeeze laughing, “thank Christ I’m allowed to say no to this dull shit now!”

watercleansingpad · 04/06/2022 18:39

I wonder if Diana would have been invited if she was still alive and divorced from Charles?

OP posts:
GreenWheat · 04/06/2022 18:40

Err.....because they are no longer part of the royal family?
