DV and Heard vs Depp

This is not a post about the trial or the result.
Refuge, the charity, posted a quiz on FB asking to spot what constitutes DV. I Didn’t get round to taking the quiz, the comment section caught my eye. Every other comment was, ‘what about the men?’ Refuge, very respectfully replied, gave reasons as to why the charity mainly focused on women andchildren and then links to charities Re male domestic abuse. One person pointed out that, statistically women die more from DV than men but the response was ‘that makes it ok then does it?’
AIBU these comments have always been around, and quite rightly, male victims of DV should be taken as seriously as women victims of DV, but that the Heard and Depp trial has made it almost impossible to talk about women’s experiences without reminders of what about men.
Should we just say victims of DV and not name genders?

This may not be a popular response but..
Where DV is concerned the vast majority of victims are women and the vast majority of perpetrators are men.

Once men have sorted their shit and fewer women are being killed by violent men every day, then lets worry about men being hurt by women.
I'm very sorry some men are victims, but priorities have to be put in place.
