Union for parents

Mamofoneboy · 01/06/2022 17:33

AIBU to think there should be a union for parents. The hours are appalling, the pay is even worse and I don’t know about anyone else but my boss poops himself, is always screaming at me and is just generally one of the more unreasonable people I’ve met.

** Please note I love my DS more than I can say, this was just a joke to highlight how hard parenting is. (And I’m not even 12 months in!)

I'm in. Happy to be a rep (we have teens here and we definitely need to be unionised 😆)...

Outoutoutshout · 01/06/2022 18:35

Don't be bloody ridiculous. You're blinkin lucky to be able to have kids.

Oh don't be such a fucking bitch plopper.

I'd join you OP.

IglesiasPiggl · 01/06/2022 18:56

Indeed, my boss makes me clean up his vomit and sing to him in the night
Surely this is not in the job requirements?!

Maybebabyno2 · 01/06/2022 19:07

My boss demands I cuddle him to sleep every evening. I'm in!

rolls eyes so hard, I can see my neck

Gosh wait until the teens come along, the working conditions are poor, the hours increase again and you may even have to call for additional support staff for back Grin
Why hasn't there been a union before

This is the very reason I added the disclaimer at the end. And for what it’s worth we had a lot of trouble conceiving; miscarriages, pre IVF investigations and all the stress and arguing that goes with it. But yes, I am very lucky to have had him but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

It's quite obviously a joke.

Borgonzola · 01/06/2022 23:21

My boss hasn't even arrived yet but thinks it's ok to kick me in the ribs. Im considering going to HR but I think he's firmly on her side

worriedaboutmoney2022 · 02/06/2022 00:03

I'm currently considering strike action after today's petition when we ran out of Pom bears 😂

What’s wrong with you?

Chocoqueen · 02/06/2022 06:29

I'll join. My boss expected me to start work at 5:30 this morning, even though I worked until 11:30 last night. Madness.

MinnieMountain · 02/06/2022 06:37

I’m in. My boss of 8 years is taking things to teenager level much earlier than agreed when I accepted the role.

Stevienickssnickers · 02/06/2022 07:24

My boss expects completely unsustainable working hours, hasn't given me a day off in 4 years, thinks soft play is an appropriate setting for a meeting and often comes to the toilet with me.

Good job he's cute.

It’s clearly a joke, if this thread upsets you then just scroll passed.

I’m in. My boss was up at 5am and is now shouting that she’s tired. She’s so unreasonable.

Twokidsanddone · 02/06/2022 07:45

I am totally game for this idea. As I sit here soaked through my bra in projectile baby sick, and my toddler DS is dipping his hands in his cereal milk and trying to rub them on everything while DP lays in bed, I realise the sex discrimination in this work place is fully unacceptable! And I'm always getting called back to work mid coffee break so my cuppa goes cold before my next one!

stringbean · 02/06/2022 07:54

Yup, I have often said, if parenthood was a job, I'd have handed in my notice years ago Grin

Danikm151 · 02/06/2022 07:56

My boss of 2 years is demanding I stroke his feet!

MaryBeardsShoes · 02/06/2022 07:58

Yes we get it parenting is hard.

milawops · 02/06/2022 07:58

My boss pissed all over himself at 6 this morning while I was changing his shitty nappy so count me in.

SmartieRants · 02/06/2022 09:00

TBH I think some of these situations count as constructive dismissal, you need to see a decent employment lawyer!
