I had a bag tonight and they tasted different. Is it just me or have they changed the recipe?

They seem smaller but I may be bigger

Grim. Used to love a twiglet and now I end up giving them to the dog.

Justkeeppedaling · 31/05/2022 19:16

They aren't as marmitey. But then, I think marmite is less marmitey than it used to be too.

A580Hojas · 31/05/2022 19:20

I am actually addicted to Twiglets so can't have them in the house unless Christmas. Am just so sad that they are short, stubby little things these days - they used to be about 3 inches long and were sublime.

Arsewangry · 31/05/2022 19:25

I had some t'other day and they are as absolutely gross as they have always been Grin

thistimelastweek · 31/05/2022 19:27

Have they changed them to make them nice?

tobee · 31/05/2022 19:28

Anyone remember the big long twiglets? They could be quite painful if they splintered in your mouth Shock. I think they might even have come in a cardboard box?

blueirises · 31/05/2022 19:29

I've just had some and they were yummy. The ones in the tubs are small - ones in bags are 3 inches long. (Does anyone remember when they came in boxes and were about 6 inches long? 70s/80s?)

I think they're just sometimes less Marmitey; different batches or whatever.

Ah, sorry, X-post. Yes, cardboard boxes. Like Maltesers

BurscoughBooths · 31/05/2022 19:31

I think they changed years ago - they used to have cheese as an ingredient. Cheese removed to reduce fat/calories. Maybe 20 years ago? Never been as tasty since

tobee · 31/05/2022 19:31

X post Grin

UrsulaPandress · 31/05/2022 19:40

Oh no. I bet the cheese was removed to make them vegan. Bloody veganism has ruined vegetarian food.

😡

NeverDropYourMooncup · 31/05/2022 20:48

They've dropped the salt content by 60% to come under the next batch of government regulations about promoting particular foods (comes into force in October, I think).

Or, in other words, they've made them bland and tasteless in case people decide to have ten packets a day.

JeansAndJumper · 31/05/2022 20:50

Yeah they have changed. They've capitulated to the new government HFSS regs by reformulating. Brace yourself for many, many other products going the same way in coming months.

blueirises · 31/05/2022 21:05

No! Don't ruin our lovely salty snacks!

I'm just eating another bag to make sure and I definitely think the taste has changed. They've fiddled around with it somehow and it's not as good. I'm still eating them though, you can't beat a salty twig let.
