To want a loo seat that doesn’t wobble?

i am replacing a loo and struggling to find one that has enclosed seat fittings as in the first pic. They all have exposed metal fittings that in my experience become loose and wobbly very quickly as in the second picture .

does any one know where I cat one online? I just went to a showroom and every single one has the exposed fittings

thank you in advance!

We have the metal ones and they did get wobbly but DH discovered how to get at the fittings to tighten them again. I think you have to pull the lid off or something

strawberry12345 · 31/05/2022 13:45

Exactly that’s what I’m trying to avoid! There must be some old fashioned ones somewhere that don’t require maintenance

I have a wooden one with the little metal fixtures like in your second photo. Had it years and it isnt wobbly.
If it's wobbly then it isnt fitted right.

PurpleButterflyWings · 31/05/2022 13:49

As the poster above said. It won't 'wobble' if it's fitted correctly.

ok aside from the reason for wanting one does anyone know where I can get an old fashioned one with enclosed fittings?

Yes! I absolutely do know!

Buy one of these from Amazon:

@Tarrantulus thank you that’s a soft close lid but the fixtures look like the disc type rather thank the stringer concealed ones?

Zero wobble, soft close, clicks off easily for cleaning. 10 mins to fit, no DIY skills or special tools required.

Also comes in square, C shape, D shape as well as oval. You won’t look back.

20+ years in experience in construction, never fit anything else now. The absolute GOAT of loo seats.

The fixing is completely different from your loo seat, which is why you currently have wobble issues. It cannot come loose in the same way that traditional loo seats do - where there is a nylon bung and a large wing nut that screws over the threaded bar.

With this seat, you fit the fixings into the holes in the ceramic pan. Then the seat clips onto the fixings. No fiddling under the pan or corroding steel bar or wing nuts.

Best £20 I have ever spent on Amazon.

@Tarrantulus thank you sounds promising! Are the versions of toilets (C, D shape etc) are all standard sizes? Or if I buy that seat in a C shape will it fit any standard C shape loo do you know?

OP posts:
Tarrantulus · 31/05/2022 16:28

All UK standard sizes. Always check the measurements though! Heavy parcel to return.

HTH :-)

I'm with you, OP. I find the second fixtures wobble over time. We must have strong buttocks.

strawberry12345 · 31/05/2022 17:24

@Tarrantulus so helpful thank you - I have ordered the seat and new loo off amazon!

@orwellwasright 😂
