Hate my haircut- spock

It's basically this except with slightly longer sides- they're about halfway down my ear.
Thought it would look trendy as a 'micro bob' but obviously not long enough.
I had a short pixie cut almost 12 weeks ago (early March) and this is the growth so far.
Can't do anything with it, all I do is shove it back in a headband which makes it look like I've got no hair as it just lays flat on my head.
Will still be a good 2 months before it's even a short bob.
Had it trimmed today but it's hideous.
Sounds dramatic but I hate looking in the mirror. Don't know whether to just cut it short again or deal with this for another 2 months.

I'd probably ride it out for a few months with hats and hairbands. What happens if you rough it up a bit for texture? Does it have any volume or is it really straight and flat? My friend hated her pixie cut and wore a wig for three months so you are certainly not the only one!

Forget the headband, maybe channel the Boris messy look?? I mean, he usually looks like he gets a pudding bowl cut and just messes, possibly mousses, it up 😉

JanePrentiss · 30/05/2022 15:43

Style it out, headbands etc... Have got got a pic to see how you look irl as a non pouty model person?

StrangeCondition · 30/05/2022 15:44

Why did you have it trimmed again if you didn't like it in the first place Grin , I'd try and let it grow out personally, hopefully it won't take long

Carbaholic876 · 30/05/2022 15:46

Headbands just don't suit me for some reason. Makes me look like I've not got any hair too.
My hair is very straight. Maybe I should go for the Boris look!
Hair extensions are very tempting, it's just the money and maintenance

I know, it was just longer on one side so all I had was that side trimmed so they were equal, nothing else off

That is a bit harsh op. I know because I grew out a pixie during lockdown and my stylist just cut the back up to match the sides and I looked liked Edmund Blackadder. It gave my family a good laugh but not me. I honestly looked hideous. I just wanted a change tbh but my pixie suited me as I have a small face and features.

I put up with it for about 3 weeks then gave up and had layers put back in and a fresh pixie cut. It looked loads better.

Fleabag's sister

StrangeCondition · 30/05/2022 15:50

Could you maybe quiff the front up a bit, backcomb it and pin it back with kirby grips?

StrangeCondition · 30/05/2022 15:51

Or use a shit tonne of product to quiff it up?

JanglyBeads · 30/05/2022 15:51

Looks nice to me!

100problems · 30/05/2022 15:51

The Pinterest says hairstyles for Vulcans 🤣

SpaceJamtart · 30/05/2022 15:52

I would use a roundbrush and mousse and go for messy volume, the layers you have will help and the colour is really nice

Carbaholic876 · 30/05/2022 15:52

Thank you, I'll try those suggestions!

Ok I see what you mean about a flat head band but what about one with a bow whilst you grow it out.

I'm in the same situation, having finished chemo three months ago. I look like a slightly ageing pixie (not great) but sooo much more comfortable than my flipping' wig.

I've bought myself a very cool black Panama hat (surprisingly expensive) and a variety of head bands (my hair has a slight wave so a bit of texture). Hair grows at about 3mm a week so maybe decide what you are aiming at (find a picture) and calculate how long it will take.

SpaceJamtart · 30/05/2022 15:54

Maybe look up bandana hairstyles for pixie cuts, there are some cute options that would make use of your fringe

Carbaholic876 · 30/05/2022 15:56

That's a lovely headband, I'll have a look one for one like that.
Great to hear you've finished chemo.
Hopefully it'll grow quickly!

The bandanas/ wide scarfy bow things are good for when the back starts growing more than anything else and it starts to get a bit mullety. The fabric can keep that bit off your neck and hide it a bit in the growimg in phase
