AIBU to push for blood tests?

I will caveat this with the fact I am currently really struggling with my depression, as that may affect your view.

problem is at the moment I really can’t get through the day without a decent sleep. As in I just can’t function without one and feel like a zombie. I know it’s one of the factors of depression, and that’s what my GP has said, but this just feels wrong to me. WIBU to call back and ask for bloods to see if there is anything else underlying?

I have ongoing problems with low folate levels which cause me extreme tiredness. I'd ask to be referred for a blood test, definitely.

Push for a blood test. I was severely depressed and had sleep issues for almost a year. I was offered anti-depressents, had a course of CBT. Still felt constantly exhausted and low. Ended up really pushing for a blood test and turned out I had a really bad vitamin D deficiency. Felt a whole lot better after a few months of very high strength supplements to get it back up. Likely would not have found it out if I didn't push.

You can be depressed and have other health issues that causes issues with sleep and exhaustion. There are also other health issues that can cause or worsen depression and exhaustion. Off the top of my head anemia, thyroid function and vitamin D levels are things you might want checked. I am sorry you are feeling so unwell and I hope it improves x

It's a cheap test. You are just asking to rule a few things out.

Go for it.
