To ask if this sounds like appendicitis?

So yes I am going to the OOH Gp tomorrow I just want some clarity.

it started on Monday. I just felt off with my food and later that evening I had like an ache in my lower abdomen.

it got worse from there. I completely lost my appetite, I’ve not felt genuine hunger for days (I make myself eat one meal a day). Usually I feel hunger as I exercise and like to eat a lot. I can go 10+ hours not eating and my stomach won’t grumble

the pain is an ache/squeezing feeling and it comes and goes. Usually before I go to bed or after I’ve been for a poo. But this morning in college it was getting really bad for a few hours, which set off bad back pain around my spine area. It’s gone off 10 minutes ago, now I’m shivering in my bed

alongside this I have had hot flushes. Like when I’m waiting for the bus in the morning outside I feel really warm (I just wear a shirt and jacket)

kind regards TonyBlairsLover, rambled so if it doesn’t make sense that’s why

I had similar symptoms couple of months ago and it developed into an episode of renal colic, caused by a kidney stone. Hope the GP can help. In my case, she suspected it based on telephone assessment, gave me a referral letter to speed things up and send me to A&E

I am not a doctor, nobody on the internet can diagnose you.

Appendicitis, I understand, starts as generalised abdo pain then moves round and focuses on the lower right side of your tummy. It can grumble for quite some time, but it is an infection and you should watch out for serious infection markers - eg temperature, fast pulse, faster breathing, feeling confused.

I would get checked out. I had something similar just a few weeks ago, the pain was not excruciating, but then suddenly it was. I went to A&E and my appendix was ruptured.
Of course, it could be many other things, but I would definitely get abdomen pain checked.

If it feels worse before tomorrow, please go to A&E. Also if you've had any black or metallic smelling bowel movements, go to A&E. Don't focus on appendicitis. There are plenty of other things it could be, some harmless and some serious. I speak from experience but I don't want to scare you, it's good you have a ooh appointment tomorrow but don't hesitate to go to A&E sooner if you're worried. Best of luck and I hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

It's not how mine was, but that doesn't mean it's not how yours is!!

definitely go to A&E if you feel you need to. I was lucky I went when I did (pre covid, I went to the GP first, I live very near & they could fit me in, they sent me directly to A&E (about 3pm) and it was removed later that evening, the surgeon said it was very septic & would have probably caused a big problem if I'd left it overnight. So don't hesitate to go to A&E.

It sounds like you do need to see a doctor. Abdominal pain is something to take seriously.

My appendicitis got progressively worse (very quickly) rather than the pain coming and going. It usually starts around your belly button and travels to the lower right hand side of your stomach.

It's not always like that though.

I hope you find out what's going on and you feel better soon.

What's your urine colour like? Summer Hay shade is ideal - Mellow Mahogany not so much.

TonyBlairsLover · 27/05/2022 20:42

@Whatifitallgoesright normal not cloudy.
