To expect it not to be see through?!

Bought a fancy dress from a well known brand for £160. It's for a wedding, which is tomorrow.

Is it U to expect a dress of that price to not be sheer?! Am trying to work out how bad it is, but you can definitely see the outline of my belly button. Haven't even attempted to look at the back view as I suspect it will be upsetting Grin

It is a maxi knit type dress, figure hugging, and honestly feels more like a beach cover up than something you'd actually wear out. Would expect this quality from somewhere like forever 21 etc, rather than who I actually bought from!

Have rushed to get a stretchy nude cami dress, which I will wear underneath, but the bloody thing should have come with something attached, no?

Can you get something else today and send it back?

Totally agree OP, I just don't trust buying white dresses online now without trying them on first because the photos on a website can be quite misleading.

Is it from Free People OP?

I've had a few things from there which are how you describe. Agree that often they are not fit for purpose without something underneath and finding something which is cut appropriately is more effort than finding the dress in the first place!

Unless you really love it I’d just send it back. I’m really trying not to keep ‘not right but good enough’ clothes anymore. It just ends up with a bunch of items you don’t really like.

My DD has ordered a few more expensive bits of clothing to attend a destination wedding/holiday and I've seen better quality in Primark and from Shein. I was shocked at what people would pay for the badly finished clothes in Zara. The prints are good, but so badly made.
