Sorry not really aibu….. but I’ve had lots of calls recently from people saying their from HMRC wanting to collected my feedback on how I’d feel if child benefit became a digitised service, I keep saying sorry im too busy at the moment to talk but just wondered if anyone knew if this was legitimate? If it is I’m happy to answer questions I just didn’t want to end up getting dragged into some sort of scam!
thanks!

SCAM
They never call you, they’d send a letter (still gotta be careful with letters too) always google the number for HMRC never take what you read as the truth

use who called me .. search the number and I bet they’ll be hundreds reporting as a scam. Then block the number. You’ll get loads now because you’re in the scammers system as having answered

And how we receive benefits won’t number based on customer feedback .. if there’s going to be changes theyd make the changes

Thank you! I did wonder…. I’ll be ignoring and blocking from now on!

It might be genuine e. Lots of things are going to be digitised and customer feedback will be sought.

TorringtonDean · 24/05/2022 22:56

It’s a scam. HMRC do not have time to ring anyone!

Discovereads · 24/05/2022 22:59

Wierd. My child benefit is digitised. I can access it online and have done so to update my address and such. The only thing that is paper is the form they send out at 16 about further education.

I get these all the time at work.

They want to know our strategy post pandemic, a little about our HR/recruitment plans and how the credit crunch is affecting us.

They ring at least once a week.

It seems bizarre that they spend so much on research but cant answer their phones or get tax stuff done in a timely manner and dont get me started on self-assessment.

Pretty sure it's a scam I had same thing and the woman was pushy when I said I couldn't speak now due to 2yo & school run . Confused

I then searched the number (scam) and blocked it.
