‘Sore toe’ advice please !! 🙄

I’ve really hurt my big toe by stubbing it off a coffee table. I’ve obviously stubbed my toe before but this feels different and I can barely bend it. It’s actually not swollen but it’s all purple in the inside between it and the index (is that what it’s called?!) toe beside it. It’s absolutely agony!

I’ve iced it and taken paracetamol which took the edge off it but it’s still really sore. I’ve got a showjumping event this week so this is bad timing! Does anyone know how to make the pain more bearable? It doesn’t hurt to walk but it hurts to put weight directly on the toe and it sort of throbs and aches when I try to move it. I know there’s no point going to hospital because they can’t do anything and I could just strap it at home myself, but I just need to stop it hurting so it doesn’t affect me riding😬 TIA

It sounds like you’ve broken it. Unfortunately i don’t think there’s anything that can be done for a broken toe?
I don’t think there’s a miracle cure here, sorry.

Oh dear! I did something similar with my middle toe on a box earlier this year.

I suspect I may have broken it as the bruising was most the way up my foot by the next day and the swelling similar. I didn't bother checking as my toes are bent anyway, so I reckoned all they'd do is x-ray it and say "oh well".
I did use heat, which helped the pain, although I'm told that cold would have been better for healing, so try some frozen peas maybe?

You may find ibroprofen gel helpful too.

Yep I think there’s a chance it’s broken, or at least chipped. I’ve stubbed my toe millions of times before but this feels different. It’s surprisingly not too bad to walk but once I put weight onto the toe itself or try and move it there’s a sickening type of pain and I can’t really bend it properly. Its not badly swollen though thankfully.

It’s such bad timing and I know riding is going to hurt it more- if the stirrup presses on it it will be agony. I tried frozen peas which helped but it started again once I took them off unfortunately. TIA

That sounds very painful! Hope you’ve recovered from it now.
