To think the Queen should write her memoirs?

To be published after her death, obviously.

Elizabeth II has been monarch for 70 years. He first Prime Minister was Winston Churchill (the standard has declined somewhat since then…). She has met every world leader of any significance since Hitler. She has had privileged access to information about events of huge historical importance for longer than most of us have been alive.

Whether you are a monarchist or not, and I most definitely am not, the Queen is a figure of major historical importance, and it would be interesting for future generations to read her real views about the second Elizabethan era. And it would be fun to read what she really thought of Thatcher, Trump, Brexit etc and how much she really loathes pop concerts…

How do you know she hasn't?

Jesus no, she wouldn't do this, it'd be the end of the monarchy if we actually found out the truth about them all

gobbynorthernbird · 23/05/2022 20:48

She'd need to get a wriggle on

Georgeskitchen · 23/05/2022 20:54

Maybe she has kept a journal of her personal thoughts. Not to be published until many years after her death

housemaus · 23/05/2022 20:59

I'd definitely read it (and I'm very much not a monarchist) but I think she's much more of the old-school, keep-the-monarchy-at-a-distance type, I reckon she'd think it wasn't appropriate.

Shame, I'd love for her to do a voiceover of the Crown. "That didn't happen... that did though" etc...!

She can't. If the (rest of) the truth came out, the whole clan would be signing on.

I would love to know if any of the Crown is true - and which bits.
