To sell these tickets

I'm massively overthinking but bear with.

I have some tickets to a much sought after event that I now can't go to.

My options are

  • just return them through the resale site at face value (simplest)
  • sell them to a friend at face value

The friend option causes slight issues as I'm not sure which friends to offer them to first, and don't want it to be awkward.

I would like to raffle them for charity (I run a small charity) but I can't afford to lose the money on them so I would really have to sell two at an inflated price, and raffle two. The person would effectively be buying four and donating two back to the raffle.

Or just whack them on stub hub and be done with it.

What would you do?

Put them on your Facebook for friends

Make it clear, first to comment, or random number generator

Offer to friends on a first come first served basis. Don't try and make money on them. Even for charity.

Offer to the friend who could least afford them?

I mean at the resale price.

I don't know why I didn't think of just offering them on Facebook (as opposed to Marketplace).

I have one friend I'm going to give first refusal to as I know she also tried to get tickets and couldn't.

Then first come first served feels fair.

Some concerts only allow you to resell via official means, to avoid sellers from selling at inflated prices. Would suggest you check that just in case it affects your tickets.

Offer them to friends on Fb be clear that the first to respond & pay gets them.

FlippityFlapperty · 22/05/2022 10:47

Text all the friends who might want them at the same time, and either sell to the first to pay or draw their names on paper and sell them to the person whose name is pulled. Imagine they’d need to be seriously covetable tickets if it would cause a falling out among friends.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 22/05/2022 11:28

Yep, stick them on your FB and whoever comments first gets them.

You can't donate someone else's money to charity, which is essentially what you'd be doing to whoever bought your two inflated price tickets. It also makes you no better than a ticket tout.

Either sell them to a friend at face value or return them. The raffle idea is a non starter.
