AIBU to move for schools

I think I used to be an interesting person. But now, this is my dilemma, and yes, it's the same as many others on here.

We live in a large city (not London) and like where we live. There are many schools of varying quality. The local comp isn't awful but anecdotally is chaotic in terms of pastoral care and I know of more sensitive kids who have really struggled there. We have a private school close to us which we could send my oldest son to, but we have two children, and therefore the fees for both would basically take up all our disposable income for the next ten years. Or we could move to another part of the city, for a better school, but my son wouldn't know anyone when he moved up to comp (we'd keep him at his current primary for year 6). The last option is my preferred one currently. So AIBU? I've started having a peek at Rightmove.
