Window cleaner

Hi, I've had window cleaner for about year now, every 4 weeks £8 okay but not great.
As money is tight I've asked him to come every 8 weeks so I didn't have cancel as I felt bad and could probably afford it a little longer.
I emailed him and he said no problem but once every eight weeks would be £14?
So I'm only saving £2 for half the service, of course I'm canceling him now but does that seem unreasonable uping price and doing less?

can i have your window cleaner - we pay £35 every 6 weeks. Its not a big house. Seriously considering stopping as the electric has doubled,

easyday · 19/05/2022 23:01

£8? Wow. Maybe he's just taking the opportunity to increase his prices to a sensible level!

HeddaGarbled · 19/05/2022 23:06

It’s more work if you leave them to get dirty for longer. Also he needs to make a living and £8 every 2 months is hardly worth bothering with unless he’s desperate for customers.

We pay £30 for a 4 bed house every 6 weeks & my mum pays £15 for a bungalow every month.

I pay £40 every 3 months.

I didn't think £8 window cleaners still existed. Not since the 80s!

Mine charges £5 though I pay him more. I've suggested that he puts his prices up a little but so far he hasn't.

Whyjustwhy83 · 19/05/2022 23:22

Wow £35 no way would I pay that much.
Paying £8 here is a fair bit, none of my neighbours took him on. He only does my house in the estate and doesn't do the best job, he always leaves water marks. My dad's partner pays £2.50 for a bungalow in the same town I live in.

Exactly. I think he's being reasonable for the reasons, HeddaGarbled, posted above.

Invest in an extendable brush and do it yourself

HeddaGarbled · 19/05/2022 23:41

£2.50!!!!!!!!

That’s just exploitation. You’d pay kids more than that to clean your car.
