Last month my old manager left and I had to join a new team with a new manager.
Now this manager has been asked to lead a hugely failing project within the office. My current team are disbanded - all of them were given the option of which team they wanted to join; the new project or a different manager’s team, aside from me. I was the only one forced to join my manager’s new project with no consultation. My manager said I’m good at X and would be an asset to her new project etc and I could be her deputy
Everyone else in her team refused to go to the new project. I’m feeling a bit hard done by because I have had to uproot again, and the new project is a sinking ship and I wouldn’t have joined it had I been asked. I am a specialist in certain areas but she is ignoring my input. The project itself is something that has been poorly performing for around a year and the turn around needed isn’t realistic.
Meanwhile my manager has changed her demeanour towards me. She “forgotten” to include me in important meetings, has substantially increased my workload whilst she focused on new staff, has made me have a private conversation with her in front of others because she did not have time to speak to me privately, hasn’t signed off my annual leave before the deadline (and has approved the same days to others), and has asked me to give up other work I lead in to focus on this project. I’m not a deputy but more of her maid. I don’t feel respected, she’s very abrupt and acts like I am a nuisance.
The other team I could have joined would literally have been ideal for me, I’m close with the manager there who wouldn’t have let this happen. Today he said I could join his team, be his deputy and could maintain the other areas I lead in. My current manager has refused to let me leave and hasn’t addressed any of my concerns. I don’t know what to do but feel stressed and annoyed
