To call the doctors back..

I have a 7 month old baby who's EBF.
Naturally from breastfeeding I lost my baby weight fairly quickly but not intentionally, (I eat a LOT) but then just remained at the same weight.

About a month and a half ago I dropped 2 stone in weeks. My milk supply has got so low that I think this weekend im going to have to supplement with formula which upsets me as I never had this issue before. The doctors did a diabetes test and routine blood works and everything was fine so have refused to look further into it.

AIBU to request for them to look further? Im borderline underweight and im eating close to 3000 calories a day. My milk supply is pretty much non existent. This isn't normal?

No it isn’t. Loosing baby weight quickly when bf isn’t abnormal but it isn’t the normal.

An unexplained stone in a couple of weeks should be explored.

ZuliKyanLarsFoz · 19/05/2022 16:48

I dont think that's normal at 7mo pp. Breastfeeding and weight loss is usually in the beginning couple of months, not this far down the track. I'd be asking for a second opinion as 2 stone is a lot to lose unexpectedly especially when eating 3000 cats.

Notmytiep · 19/05/2022 16:54

That's not normal OP, YANBU to want to push it further.

Tania64 · 19/05/2022 16:58

You are not being unreasonable. This makes me so angry you should be given all the help and support to continue breast feeding not pushed aside. Contact your gp and insist on being given further help.

You need to go back as it seems too far down this line to be breastfeeding related.

Women get dismissed far too easily by doctors, especially during pregnancy and postpartum.

Thank you for your responses. I called them back but can't get an appointment (which is a telephone appointment) until mid June. I may weigh myself daily and keep a food diary too .
