It's shit op but police are ridiculously stretched and if they don't have anyone to send they don't have anyone to send. Government to blame.

fedup078 · 19/05/2022 16:06

I would yes. This could have ended very badly. Though not sure what good or how far you'd get complaining .

It won't go very far at all.

Complain . Otherwise the poor standard of policing is never challenged

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 19/05/2022 16:18

Yes because there could have been a mistake in the call logging process or anything, you won't know what really happened until you put in a complaint and it might protect someone from being in a similar situation next time.

LicoricePizza · 20/05/2022 04:54

That’s awful - both the event & the lack of police response. Complain definitely.

pompomseverywhere · 20/05/2022 05:29

Complain and watch them fob you off.

I rang 111 about a disturbance at my neighbours. There was furniture crashing and fighting and I was worried for the child. I specifically said I wanted to remain anonymous. They asked for my name for their records but that I would remain anonymous. Within the hour they arrived my neighbour asked who rang them and they immediately told them my name. It was a nightmare.

I complained and got a standard response of no real meaning. I followed up twice with no reply. Ruined relationships after that.

As posters have said their massively under pressure.

When I read MN, where people are advising police involvement because someone left their Netflix account logged in at a holiday home and it got used, I realise why!

Posters on that thread insisted police would be interested, one poster was extremely rude when I pointed out that my DS didn't get any assistance when mugged, they were hardly likely to help the Netflix owner.

Shows that police are still being called out for ridiculous reasons and true problems like yours get ignored.

Sorry, that must have been terrifying.

SpaceMaaaaan · 20/05/2022 05:58

Complain but calmly, in a I'd like to know the facts and why way not a OMG POLICE SUCK way.

autienotnaughty · 20/05/2022 06:03

Was he still in house when you rang? Or were you safe at the point you were able to ring?

PAFMO · 20/05/2022 06:04

What were you told during the first telephone call?

That they weren't sending someone?
That someone would come?

How long after the first call did you make the second?

YABU they came. What are you going to complain about? Having to call twice? Regarding your calls and the circumstances We need more information.
scenaio 1 drunken stranger is in your home when you call the police, I would expect them to try and send someone.
scenario 2 drunken stranger has staggered off, if they have someone available to look for them then yes also but the immediate threat has gone, so a welfare visit to you the following day to see how you are doing and also to discuss how they entered your home.
What reason was given for the initial non attendance? Sometimes there is literally no one to send.
