Opinions when shopping

I'm on the hunt for a new pair of sunglasses, so I popped into the Sunglass Hut Concession in John Lewis and I tried a pair of Ray-Ban's on (they're the round ones) and the assistant came up to me and said "Ohhh no no they don't suit you at all" and showed me a couple of other styles which were about £100-£200 more expensive.

What annoyed me was, I didn't ask for her opinion if they suited me or not! and I felt that possibly she was trying to sell me more expensive ones because of the commission she may make?!

Over the years, I've stopped asking people (mostly friends I'm shopping with) about 'what they think' - if I like it, I buy it as I'm the one wearing it!

AIBU to be so angry at this women telling me that the sunglasses didn't suit me?!

This annoys me to no end! Specsavers are notorious for this . They 100% try to push the more expensive frames under the guise of advising. I usually just smile and nod and buy whatever I feel suits me.

Not the ones I wanted, I got annoyed and but I really want them!

I'm not paying £325 for a cat eye sunglasses, I don't want cat eye sunglasses.

Now that you've tried them on and like them, order them online.
The silly woman has lost all commission now.

Ray Bans sometimes have some good offers if you sign up online directly rather than through Sunglass Hit etc. JL optician's we're recently lousy with me when I wanted to buy a new pair of RBs 🙄

Well go back and buy them!

I don't get why you didn't just buy them if you really wanted them! Order them online, who gives a fuck if a random stranger thinks they don't suit you.

BUT the 'No noo nonooo no noooo they don't suit you' was a little too much.

And the way she came charging at me to tell me that!

I'm just annoyed.

I used to work at Debenhams and when a customer picked up something I didn't think suited them, I never went charging up to them and told them to put it down and buy something else more expensive instead!
