C section infection

I am 3 weeks post ELCS and have already had one infection in my scar. It was just a little area that hadn't healed and left an open wound which was weeping and smelly sorry tmi.

I had a course of antibiotics and swabs were done to check there were no nasty bugs. There weren't. I am feeling better but noticed today that the area has flared up red again. There is no pain and no weeping. It doesn't look infected other than the redness but the wound is still open. I have possibly overdone it this week with walking and long periods of standing.

I can't get an appointment with my gp and I've been discharged by the midwives now so not sure what to do. I don't really want more antibiotics if I can help it as they made me quite unwell and nauseated. Has anyone else experienced this? Could the redness just be a sign of healing? Do I just keep an eye on it over the next few days and see the gp if it gets worse?

I think redness is a sign of infection. Sorry but it needs to be seen as you don’t want any surface infection travelling in if you see what I mean. Can you call the midwives who dealt with you initially? If not, and no GP it’ll be a trip to A&E ( I know my younger daughter contacted midwives about mastitis a few weeks after her ds’s birth and they were amazingly quick with treatment)
