Spotting before period?

Cherrypieinthesky · 17/05/2022 18:17

Posting here for quick response. Has any one experienced this? Spotting when wiping after having a wee. Only very small amounts. I’m about 3/6 days before my period normally comes but I’ve never had spotting before it. Definitely not pregnant

I have it regularly, but I’m being investigated for Endometriosis.

It could be, hormonal changes, hormonal imbalance, stress, STI, pregnant and more.

If it’s concerning for you, it’s best to always mention it to the GP or nurse.

Fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about for you.

Xmasfairy86 · 17/05/2022 18:29

experiencing it now actually. I thought I was coming on early. But nothing has materialised as yet

MamaOfWobbles · 17/05/2022 18:29

Yes - past 3-4 months I've had this. Spotting for up to 4 days before I start

SallyWD · 17/05/2022 18:30

I had this. It started when I was 42 and lasted a couple of years. It was perimenopause for me. Might be a different reason for you.

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 17/05/2022 18:31

I do but I have PCOS. Sometimes I have one day of spotting and then nothing until the next time my period is due or I'll have a random day of spotting smack in the middle of a period ending and one starting

TheGlitterati · 17/05/2022 18:31

Me. Started after my covid booster. 4 cycles later and it’s finally reduced to 1-2 days.

Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople · 17/05/2022 18:34

How old are you? It could be the start of perimenopause, or some women are reporting changes in their periods after the covid vaccine. I'm in peri now I think, and I am spotting at all sorts of times, and have ruled out other issues (eg. Cervical problems etc).

Definitely track it, any bleeding outside of your period should really be investigated, but if it starts happening more in the run up to your periods then it's probably hormones.

Loz2467 · 24/09/2022 11:25

@TheGlitterati How did you get on? My spotting has been for a whole week before my period since my covid vaccine back in July 2021 and no changes since. It’s still happening.

TheGlitterati · 25/09/2022 16:27

@Loz2467 still happening, no improvement.

Loz2467 · 25/09/2022 17:49

@TheGlitterati it’s so frustrating isn’t it. 😞 are you trying to concieve? I know it’s natural to look for something to blame but it couldn’t be a coincidence that I had 3 or so normal cycles after my miscarriage then in July all of a sudden this starts. Last July! I haven’t had a booster vaccine because I’m worried it will make it worse.

Lolacat1234 · 25/09/2022 17:59

How old are you? Could be a sign of low progesterone x

TheGlitterati · 25/09/2022 18:03

I’m not thankfully as it would cause me a lot of stress. I definitely think it’s hormonal linked to the vaccine.

INeverSawAPurpleCow · 25/09/2022 18:34

I had this, I had to have some polyps removed.

Americano75 · 25/09/2022 18:35

Perimenopause for me too.

Loz2467 · 25/09/2022 19:39

I’m 26. It started as I turned 35 but my AMH is low side of average - not great at 8.4 but my follicle count was 21. So i don’t think im quite menopausal but something has changed. It’s so stressful when TTC it makes me think how do I even have a chance when the lining starts coming away 7 days after ovulating.

The last 3 cycles my Dr gave me progesterone suppositories to take from 2 days past ovulation until my period and this has stopped the spotting but I don’t know what’s causing it. I’ve had an op to check for polyps and a biopsy done. Bloods and thyroid done I just can’t figure it out and seems strange it started the month I got my vaccine. X

Loz2467 · 25/09/2022 19:40

36 sorry! Typo! Wish I was 26!

robomatrix · 08/11/2022 13:59

I have had this for the last year. Spotting up to 10 days before period.

Pelvic scan shows nothing abnormal. Blood tests show raised prolactin and abnormal levels of LH and FSH. I am awaiting a repeat blood test.

I will try and remember to update this thread.

LBFseBrom · 08/11/2022 14:07

It used to happen to me sometimes, I also had it occasionally after a period stopped. There was nothing wrong with me. However it won't hurt to mention it to your doctor. It is usually caused by changes in hormone levels; stress can cause fluctuating hormones and often missing periods for a while, in some people.

Bubblegum13 · 02/09/2023 20:18

Just wondered if any of you had any updates?

Im currently experiencing this.

freespirit333 · 02/09/2023 20:58

Gosh is this not normal? I always have this, 3-4 days approximately of brown spotting sporadically then my period starts properly. I thought it was just how it was! I’m 35, but I’ve had this for a long time. Not pregnant,
not on any contraception.

Twinsmum2021 · 17/09/2024 13:33

I know it's an old post but on the off chance it helps anyone, I was spotting from about day 21 of my cycle. Went to the GP, ended up getting a private ultra sound and hysterectomy to check for polyps. Was advised it was my progesterone hormone levels dropping too soo , and the only thing I could do was take the pill if I didn't want the spotting.
After lots of googling and doing my own research I found the one thing that helps massively is having organic milk. On a cycle when I only have organic milk I might get 2 days of spotting, if I have normal milk I get at least 7 days.

Deedoo · 28/03/2025 17:26

@robomatrix what was your finding

worldwidetravel2017 · 28/03/2025 17:31

Pcos ? Endo ? Low progsterone?
