To wonder when MN will be fixed?

I have been patient.

I have persevered through all the teething problems.

I know everyone is working hard behind the scenes to fix things.

But AIBU to wonder when at least the major issues with the MN replatform will be fixed?

To ask for some kind of plan or timeline for dealing with high priority bugs, maybe including some kind of testing to make sure the fixes don’t break other things?

Couldn’t it be treated the same way as a software release?

Maybe I'm being naive, but what are the major and minor issues with the platform? Searching is dreadful, and there are things that I personally would like to see, but what are the ones you are referring to OP?

What was the problem with the old MN? It seemed fine to me.

I don't understand why it is taking so long to bring back things that have previously been here, such as thread refresh and a proper search function. I don't think I have ever experienced such a crap update to any website/app before.

The iPhone app is horrendous.

Do you think anyone has said they prefer the way it is now?

Does anyone remember Handbag.com? They 'upgraded' the forums and completely ruined it.

Currently the iOS version of the app is awful due to the lack of paragraph spacing and the quote function not working (cutting off the text following the quote). It wasn't actually mostly ok since the new platform until this problem nearly a week ago.

MN have given vague mutterings but no update. I'd have some sympathy if they were just upfront about it.

But the mobile browser of the app is so bad now it is unbelievable. I don't know how anyone uses it. It's like a shrunken version of the desktop, tiny functions & endless ads (I've been trying to use it to see full posts).

I barely bothered coming on MN today, it's so bad.

Just to say - the iOS app has been updated, so head to the App Store to update your app & that will fix quote issue + paragraph bunching.

Typical MN tho, don't appear to have told posters this eg via a sticky or anything, just if you happen to have posted on Site Stuff

@coffeecupsandfairylights - I only look at MN on my laptop, so maybe that is why I didn't realise the phone app had issues. Thanks for explaining the issues others have.

Text keeps getting cut off and paragraphs don't work - it's not great for an app user

Does anyone else have a problem on mobile with it just crashing ALL the time. As I saw this thread I was just thinking my time here might be up. I can't get past the first page of most threads without it crashing or opening ads I haven't clicked on. I use Samsung Internet and no issues elsewhere.

@Cakeandslippers i use safari on my phone and have the same problem. Adds keep crashing pages, stuff randomly refreshes, and it’s just generally pants. Not quite bad enough for me to properly abandon ship, but bad enough to be a constant annoyance.

The post colour thing just needs to be changed in your settings.

I've noticed the return of the zombie threads tonight, showing up in active. Not to mention the paragraph and quoting debacle on the app.

I do think some things are slowly being fixed, or at least tinkered with. The work experience kid can only do so much at a time.

And it is still cutting off the end of posts!

How?

Go to settings .. more settings .. talk settings and pick your colours! You just have to be logged in for it to work
