Is it me, or are these types of threads infuriating?

Second only to the ‘missed out a key detail and will ignore any request to supply it’ ones!

Sometimes people need sympathy, not solutions.

Organictangerine · 16/05/2022 20:01

It’s hard to sympathise if they’re choosing to suffer though

Don't forget the ones who ignore the 99 posters pointing out that they are being unreasonable, whilst replying to the 1 batshit one telling them they're right.

thistimelastweek · 16/05/2022 20:03

Sometimes the 99 who are saying the OP is unreasonable are taking a ridiculous stance just for the sake of being disagreeable.

Haha yes @DanielRicciardosSmile

Sometimes the 99 who are saying the OP is unreasonable are taking a ridiculous stance just for the sake of being disagreeable.

And sometimes one person does that because they think they’re making a point…

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 16/05/2022 20:15

I get what you’re saying, OP. I also can’t stand threads (or indeed real-life situations) where there are two clear options, but whichever one people advise them to take, they come up with a reason why it won’t work. Okay, so you don’t particularly like either option - you’ve got to pick one of them!

Organictangerine · 16/05/2022 20:55

It just seems very churlish when people take the time to write thoughtful responses to be dumped on with Moan Part 2

Ahhh, people who have a problem for every solution. Don’t you just love ‘em?

Fran456 · 16/05/2022 21:07

Its sometimes not that easy to take he first step.
Although I agree, don't ask for advice if you are not prepared to hear the answers.

I tend to assume they're either:

  1. On a wind up

  2. Desperately peddling a reverse

  3. On the scrounge for the naïve posters who say "sent you a pm" because suddenly realising you have two pence ha'penny, no food in the cupboard, no nappies and no gas/electric at 10pm on the Saturday night before a bank holiday so naturally the first thing you think of is "must make an account on MN and ask for help" doesn't strike them as a teeny bit suspicious.
