She lays all the work on the bride here. The future husband seems to be MIA and she doesn't seem to acknowledge the appalling behaviour of the parents in this

I usually like her level-headedness but I don't get this at all.

OP posts:

It's a bit pipe down and be kind, isn't it, which in this case doesn't seem too far from putting everyone else's feelings ahead of the bride's. Her fiance isn't on her team - PP doesn't mention that at all.

I just read that and thought the same!! It's her bloddy wedding, sod the parents and their food preferences.

LaingsAcidTab · 16/05/2022 10:20

In other circumstances, I'd agree with you, but there was something about the content of the letter and the way that it was written that justified PP's approach, imo.

Early on I thought it was quite good, especially the bit about finding enemies to make us feel secure. But the end was too much 'be kind'. I'd say OP needs to detach emotionally to a certain degree. She and partner should have hired the food truck; it's their wedding. At my sibling's wedding I didn't have that sort of INPUT anyway. I was just told the menus like the rest of us were. Which is normal IMO.
