To ask if PCOS causes cramps

I was diagnosed with PCOS yesterday after six months of no periods and abnormal hormone results, I have an ultrasound coming up. I’m still learning about it and wondered if anyone else who has it or who knows about it can tell me if cramps are normal? For the past month I’ve been having bad period pain (of course without the period) and it’s happening very regularly. I forgot to ask the doctor about this, and I can’t seem to find anything online about cramps with no period, only cramps with periods.

Asking here for traffic because I’m not sure if I should be concerned, hope that’s okay!

Hello! Sorry to hear about your cramps, but they are 'normal'. It's one of the side effects of PCOS which doesn't always get much attention but you can cramp regardless of if you have a period or not I'm afraid.

I hope you're able to manage your symptoms comfortably.

Yes i had semi continuous cramps for years with my pcos, especially when i was ovulating, but still there most of the rest of the time

The mirena coil has stopped that for me (not much help if you are trying to get pregnant but just in case you aren't)

Yup. All the bloody time.

hey! I've got pcos, and my periods and ovulation were always painful with cramps and other symptoms, but I'm not sure if the two are related

One of my main symptoms are strong cramps during my periods, so I would say if you're diagnosed, this is a normal symptom to have, unfortunately.
