Unwell. Antibiotics?

Just finished a course of flucloxacillin, was warned by doctor that diarrhoea and sickness could be side effects of the medication. Was fine throughout the course but just now, about 12 hour after taking the last one, I have had the worst episode of diarrhoea and felt really sick and shaky too.

Could this be due to the antibiotics? Has anyone else had this after finishing rather than during? I'm really hoping it's not a bug :-/

There's D&V bugs doing the rounds unfortunately! Get some Imodium into you and see how you feel in the morning? If it's side effects, they should have passed by then and if it's a bug you'll know by then too.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thank you, it would be just my luck to pick up a D&V bug after just getting over an infection requiring antibiotics and also having two kids (one a new baby!) to look after. We are also due at a wedding tomorrow which is why I'm concerned it's a bug.

Oof that is some rotten luck! If it's any consolation, I had it last week and now have either a cold or tonsillitis starting! 🙁

I’ve mentioned this before, but when taking antibiotics I find that a parallel course of the appropriate Optibac (pharmacist will advise which) prevents nausea and diarrhoea. It’s not too expensive, either.

Yeah D&V is a common side effect of antibiotics. Shouldn't last more than a day!

I had two episodes in the night but have woken up feeling fine. Just found it strange how it happened after I'd finished the course and not during...
