I've posted this in womens health but think it'll get more response here. Just after a hand hold really! Both deceased parents diabetic (later life diagnosed) I've been passing urine more frequently recently and have been waking up to go every 2-3 hours in the night (Can't remember the last time I had an undisturbed sleep) Thought I may have a water infection as I also have middle back pain on my left side. Took sample to GP this morning. Rang for results this evening to be told sample is being sent for further investigation as blood is present. I have the Mirena coil so don't have periods so I know it's not that. I am a 20 plus a day smoker and have been for over 30 years (Before you comment on that, I know...) All the surgery said was to drink plenty of fluids over the weekend and wait for them to call back. Now I've obviously googled ( Again, I know...) and am obviously panicking. If anyone has any advice or has been through the same and can stop me stressing all weekend it would really be appreciated. TIA

Might be kidney stones or a kidney infection? I don't think it necessarily means anything bad. Try to keep yourself busy over the weekend, hopefully it is nothing to worry about.

Don’t Google.
I have blood in my sample every time I have to produce one, have had so many tests to work out why but everything’s come back negative so now I have to pre-warn them every time my wee is tested.
There’s a chance you do have a uti, they often like to send the sample off to culture so they can get the correct antibiotics to treat.
