Eastenders title card (tedious)

I am BU, but it’s driving me crazy.

When I was little my mum used to say “look that’s where we live!” when eastenders came on (we lived near tottenham/Edmonton)

over the years I watched eastenders here and there, never thought about it, tonight I’m sat with the kids and it comes on and my natural reflex is to say “that’s where we live!”

Except I look and Tottenham isn’t even on it as far as I can tell. I can’t see the St George’s reservoirs in ponders so it def doesn’t go up that far.

Was the map bigger in the 80’s? Was my mum wrong? Is it underneath a giant E? Google can’t give me a straight answer and the eastenders wiki is mostly useless so AIBU to ask someone with superior map reading skills to tell me, how far up does it go, that’s all I want to know 🤣

I think I can just about make out Hackney Marshes above the first E. The top left corner might be Clissold Park and the top right looks like it's probably Parsloes Park.

I have no answers but this post made me laugh!

It's changed slightly over the years, but it doesn't look like it's gone past Hackney Marshes in the north

No she didn’t mean London, she’d point to the top right hand and say that’s Tottenham. Except it isn’t, it’s at best Walthamstow!

i think you’re right and that is Hackney marches. I’ve seen the title cards over the years wiki page but why has no one in the very detailed history of Eastenders just transposed a proper bloody map over it! It’s infuriating!

This is where the Lea splits by the marshes. The station there is Lea Bridge.

And there’s the line where the credits end now, with Tottenham Hale at the top.

so if it was an inch or so bigger in the 80’s she’s just about right 😂😂😂

I might just write to the BBC, this is worth the license fee surely!!!
