To think that ‘pause for thought’ on radio 2 is outdated.

I have noticed recently on my commute to work that this feature is now on at around 7.20. Every time I hear it, it gives me the rage!
I do not think that a religious sermon should be given such a prominent platform in this day and age.

It feels very old fashioned and not what I need on my way in to work. I already switch off to avoid Steve Wright. It might be time to find a new show. I would love to know if it annoys others just as much….

You should move to Ireland where you'll have the pleasure of the Angeles every evening before the 6 o'clock news!

MadMadMadamMim · 12/05/2022 19:08

Nope. I quite like it, and I'm not that religious. I mean...I agree with how annoying Steve Wright is, but I just turn him off.

You know what you're getting with Radio 2.

DishAndSpoonOnTheRun · 12/05/2022 19:08

on the telly

Woolandwonder · 12/05/2022 19:08

Yeah I love R4 for news particularly in the morning, but pause for thought drives me a bit mad, they do have secular speakers on sometimes and obviously a variety of different religions but still find it very irritating and not very relevant.

Aberration · 12/05/2022 19:09

Yes although I thought it was a little later than that? Can remember timing my commute so I’d just pull in as it started!

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/05/2022 19:35

I like it and I'm not religious at all

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 12/05/2022 19:39

I hate it, but I'm glad they've moved it to an earlier slot because I'm usually in the shower and miss it.

I only listen to Zoe and Ken through the week and then Radio 2 goes off. Also love Rylan and Liza on a Saturday, but that's all I can listen to on radio 2.

Haudyourwheesht · 12/05/2022 21:01

They have a similar one on radio Scotland but it's not overtly religious and they'll often have humanists etc. it's only 5 minutes out of your day.

Bighairydogs · 12/05/2022 21:04

I agree - I really hate it. It has no place on mainstream radio. It makes me really angry - I hate anything religious & certainly don’t want it sandwiched between listening to songs on the radio.
