Private Changing Rooms in Studio Gym

Hi guys, so I go to a spinning studio on the regular and they are absolutely lovely there! They have a fully kitted out facility with a large changing room, with 3 private changing rooms inside, loads of lockers, showers, etc.
I go every single day and am a regular customer for 1 year, however recently I have noticed other members reserving the private changing rooms and putting their stuff inside while they arent using them - while they are in class, or going to the shower for 20 minutes etc. I was stood outside the private changing room waiting for it to be free on numerous occasions for 10-15 minutes before giving up and changing in the toilet which is so unhygeninic.
I prefer changing in private FYI as I have to apply medical cream and don't like doing that out in the open at the moment. I asked the staff to let members know not to reserve them so other people can utilise them but nothing has changed, a really horrible member came over to me telling me I had issues because I wouldn't get dressed in the open but I didn't want to explain in front of a group of people in the ladies room that I want to apply my medical cream in private it was honestly such a horrible experience. I even told her I would be late for work and just wanted to use the private room. Now I have anxiety about seeing this member as well. She saw me today and purposely closed the door and went to do her makeup and smirked at me, so disgusting, I would never behave that way!
Am I being unreasonable to think the private rooms should just be for changing in and not reserving them?

Move their things and/or go in and use them anyway

marmiteloversunite · 12/05/2022 10:23

Not unreasonable at all. I've had a double mastectomy and would want to use a changing room too. As for the smirking woman well she is obviously a complete bitch who someday might have medical issues to deal with.

NoToLandfill · 12/05/2022 10:25

Move their stuff & use the changing room! Inconsiderate of them.

dementedpixie · 12/05/2022 10:26

I'd move their stuff onto a bench and use the changing room

burnoutbabe · 12/05/2022 10:28

surely if no one is in the cubicle, you can just go in and use it? as its not locked. I'd just do that. no reason for anyone to have to use the cubicle, leave for x reason, then go back in - if you need the loo, go before or after.

gamerchick · 12/05/2022 10:29

Just use them anyway. I'm assuming they can't lock the door from the outside. You need to stand up for yourself.

What are they going to do, complain to management that someone is not letting them reserve it?

Catrice · 12/05/2022 10:31

Sorry you experienced this x I agree with the others. Move their stuff (or leave it in there) and use them anyway.

ComDummings · 12/05/2022 10:34

As others have said I would move their stuff or just use the cubicle anyway

Thehop · 12/05/2022 10:35

Just go in and use it. Ignore their stuff.

TaytoAllDay · 12/05/2022 13:25

Thanks everyone I was working myself up thinking maybe I was being unreasonable, but so relieved to see it's not an unreasonable expectation! I will just go in and ignore their things, will also continue to ignore nasty girls smirks really can't be bothered with high school behaviour from grown women
