DS 5 literally walked into a lamppost.

Ds who is 5 years old was very tired after his after school club and was fooling around whilst walking. The next thing I know he is running in front of me whilst turning back and walks into a lamppost smashing his cheek. It was so bloody loud and he smashed his upper lip too so there was blood. As a result he also fell down on the ground and got a small bump at the back of his head. I put some ice onto all of the injuries as soon as we got back home and he feels better now and just finished his tea.
AIBU to give 111 a call or just watch him? What is an actual advice on minor head/face injuries? Sorry just feeling extra stressed after a tiring day.

I may be extra cautious but I would try call 111 or a gp for advice. Hope he feels better. X

All they're going to do is ask of he lost consciousness, has he been sick, is he dizzy, slurring speech?

If no to all that then nothing to be done. Same as they'd ask at A&E.

Check the NHS website for what to look out for in a head injury. If you see any of it, then you seek help.

I'd just keep an eye on him for now, he's eating ok, not nauseous or feeling wobbly.

If it helps, when my eldest was 6 he walked smack into a bollard in the school car park. Bollards they had painted bright yellow for safety. He gave himself a gash over his eyebrow that needed a butterfly stitch.
