Help with jet lag

I flew from LHR to JFK yesterday- our flight was an afternoon one meaning we got to the hotel about 9pm US time.

Even though I popped 2 melatonin before bed I laid awake for the entire night. Feeling awful and anxious and like the world was going to end. I finally got up at 5am and have been out for the morning but feel sick and have no appetite and feel deathly anxious!

I’ve slipped back to hotel for a nap but by definition I’m crap at napping and we have special plans tonight I’m dreading as I just want to hide in bed. Does anyone have any amazing tips to help fix it for tonight or recommendations of over the counter drugs I can buy here to help? Only here till Friday and feel gutted I’m missing out.

I’ve recently come back from the US to the UK and the jetlag is even worse when you return. (West to East)

easier said than done but DONT nap. You need to push through the tiredness and adjust to the new time zone you’re in. Even if you’re exhausted you need to stay awake during the day. Keep hydrated, get fresh air, have something sugary or a coffee if you feel you need an energy boost.
