To think that you don't treat a dog like this

(Non uk)

My friend met his dog in a bar and they are firm friends. However my friend rarely walks him and there is ossified dog poo all over his house.

Should I report him to the doggy equivalent of social services or am I just being a bit precious?

Of course report him

PurpleDaisies · 10/05/2022 16:39

You know this isn’t right. Are you honestly expecting anyone to say it’s fine?

DownToTheSeaAgain · 10/05/2022 16:40

But they love each other so much.

Exercising your dog (and letting it out to toilet) is basic care. He can not possibly love his dog if he wont even do this.

The dog is being neglected. The owner can’t love him all that much.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 10/05/2022 16:43

Why does he let you in to see his house covered in shit?

DownToTheSeaAgain · 10/05/2022 16:44

He's worried that if he disturbs the ossified poo it will upset the dog and make him feel bad about what he's done.

Apologies for the drip feed but my friend has mobility issues so can't walk far. He can walk a little bit though.

What do you mean by he met his dog in a bar? Confused

Dog walked into the bar. Friend took him home.

The dog wont be upset.
Sorry, but it sounds like you friend can not properly care for his dog. Can you offer to walk the dog, and help clean up? It is not pleasant or healthy for your friend or his dog to live this way.

BaaMoon · 10/05/2022 16:49

Could you clean up for him?

Yeah… is this like a euphemism or something? Or did he and his dog literally meet in a bar and then go home together where the dog shat everywhere?

Sprigofthyme · 10/05/2022 16:49

Oh this can’t be for real.

The dog will be upset cos his dried up crap is being moved?
They met in a bar?

If by any chance this is real, you know this isn’t acceptable way to treat an animal.

Was awaiting the punch line!

Did he at least buy the dog a drink first?

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 10/05/2022 16:51

I promise it is real. I've just spent three days visiting dog and friend and spent a lot of time walking said dog. I even cleared up some of the poo.

Im conflicted. Dog is happy but neglected. Friend loves dog. Dog loves friend. Ossified poo makes me want to boak.

How long has he had the dog? How does he know the dog didn't already have an owner? Someone could be missing their lost dog

AryaStarkWolf · 10/05/2022 16:57

Could the dog have a drinking problem?

This is a distinct possibility.

Does it drink Johnnie Walkies?

More of a Jack Spaniels lover I think

Summerholidayorcovidagain · 10/05/2022 17:05

Maybe he prefers a bottle of Pooch?

DownToTheSeaAgain · 10/05/2022 17:08

Whatever his tipple he likes a good bar snack. On many levels it is a marriage made in heaven.
