I have 2 dds, they have dual nationality, I am Irish and their dad (my stbxh) is English.
Our passports needed to be renewed fir an upcoming holiday, so I decided to renew their EU passports.

All applications received on February 21st, mine and one dd’s passports came back in about a week. No sign of other dd’s passport and we are flying in just under 3 weeks!!!!

They can fast track your application if you are travelling within the next four weeks but you have to speak to a customer server agent. I have called hundreds of times a day, literally, no exaggeration! It was 180 times one day last week. The webchat is impossible to get through on.

I have now applied for a fast track one week service for her Uk passport but the soonest appointment I can get is on Wednesday May 25th, that leaves 2 working days until we fly!

I am swinging between being angry and upset.

Keep checking the website for appointment cancellations.

(I'm presuming its the Irish application that's gone missing? I saw a list of email addresses for the British passport offices but that won't be much good for Ireland)

Hi OP we have been here it is the most frustrating office to deal with!!!! A few things...

  • try logging onto website chat at exactly 9am
  • refresh your browser constantly
  • have all your info typed out already and then u can copy and paste
  • try this website to contact Irish embassy in uk
- maybe there you may get an emergency passport ? -never managed to get through on the phone
  • our applications were basically just stuck and until we got through on webchat nothing was happening
  • we had also emailed Minister conveney and Minister Brophy and then something happened with our application.

It was the most stressful time... they had my passport (they apparently need for new kids application) from September to March !

When you get it back its just popped in the regular post not even tracked or signed or delivered or anything !

Good luck !

So it's the Irish Passports you're waiting for?

update:
I took @Dreambigger advice and emailed everyone I could think of (including the Taoiseach’s office). I got replies from everyone to say my email had been passed onto the office of the ambassador for foreign affairs. I got an email from the office of the ambassador for foreign affairs to say that they had contacted the passport office and, because the application had passed the processing date, my daughter’s application would be expedited. All good. Or so I thought!
I received an email from the passport office to say they couldn’t contact the signatory on the application, so I would have to submit the paperwork again!

So, 13 weeks and waiting. We are due to fly on Sunday. No replies to subsequent emails from anyone. I can change the holiday dates with our holiday company, but my eldest child can’t miss school due to exams.

I am beside myself!

There is no accountability, and according to an article in the Irish independent this week, there is no backlog, and delays are due to incorrect papery submitted by applicants (they had no problem contacting the signatory when processing mine and my eldest child’s passports!).
