Garden door

Ok, so this has baffled me! Our house is quite cold. It doesn't get much sun through the windows. It was actually warmer outside than in today. I was in the garden with the kids. Patio door open as we are in the garden. Leads into the dining room. Dh comes home very angry because the door is open letting in the cold.... no heating on or air con or fans so that's not the issue. I said but it's not cold outside! He just wasn't having itand couldn't seem to understand what I was saying. Put him in a bit of a mood. He's always banging on about the door being closed otherwise the cold will come in. I understand when it's actually cold but it was very warm today! And he wasn't even home for it to affect him! He does come from a culture where being cold means you will be sick. And I have noticed as he gets older these old wives tales have started sprouting 😅 or am I actually missing something here and I have been stupid?

No you’re not stupid, you were letting the warm in !

That's what I was saying... and he said no that's not how it works. Well more that it didn't need to be closed as we are in and out and it's not cold so no cold or rain to be let in!

I often notice it can feel warm out in the garden but that’s due to the direct sun - the air temp out there is only 15/16 deg which is cooler than the air inside so if you leave the door open and are sitting inside it is draughty / chilly.

I had windows open today and I had to shut them as it felt cold 🤣🙈

Ok I can understand that museummum. But he wasn't home. He came through the font door. I was just coming to say hello and he went a bit doo lolly over the back door being open.

It was really warm here. He then went and put shorts and t shirt on and took the kids on their bikes. Because his words. It's the perfect weather for it 🤣

Yes but it’s also good to air the house out for a bit and today was perfect weather for it. You can open the door for a little in the day and then close it after. Also, the air from patios is always much warmer than general exposed breeze as it warms up on the slabs and tends to be in an enclosed space.

That's true rain! At least this is our worst issue in our relationship! Could be worse 😅

He tells me off for having bare feet as I will get sick. Yet I'm rarely ill whereas he gets ill frequently with his socked up feet 🤣
