To think I should have had a patch test?

Had an eyebrow tint today at a Spa I’ve been to before, but not for over 7 years (just before I was pregnant with DS). I only went because my local Benefit bar brow has closed.
I now have two long eyebrow shaped burns underneath each of my brows and they really bloody hurt. I had a patch test 7 years ago but AIBU to think they should have done it again as clearly I’ve had some sort of adverse reaction and now look like I have 4 eyebrows 😫calling in the morning to complain!

You should let's get a patch test. I have walked away from salons where I wasn't offered one.

cherrymax · 08/05/2022 20:22

You absolutely should have had one. My salon have redone all of theirs after covid closure.

ButtockUp · 08/05/2022 20:22

Didn't you ask for a patch test?
You should have.

TBH I’ve had a bit of a crazy day and had lots on my mind, so it didn’t even cross my mind so hen I arrived at the salon

I always ask for one. Did you ask for one and they refused? Or did they just not offer?

Sorry cross posted. Did they ask you if you'd had it done before or anything?

Did you get an eyebrow wax too? The burns are probably where your skin has lifted, I have sensitive skin and mine sometimes lifts after a wax.

PlasticineMeg · 08/05/2022 20:27

They didn’t offer, or ask if I’d had one. They did however ask if I’d had a treatment in the last six months, I said no but they did the treatment anyway

Just a tint - I get mine threaded but the threader doesn’t do tints

How odd of them to ask then just carry on. Yes I'd complain.

I've reacted to dye differently since I've had covid and reacted on patch tests for hair dye and brow treatments.

Bigoldhag · 08/05/2022 21:04

Yes, you should’ve - it varies with brand to brand, but when i worked in the industry it was within 8 weeks - so you’d have one initially and if that much time lapsed between treatments then it was another one. Also would be required 24-48 hours before treatment, not just before it. Would also retest if you were pregnant or on new medication.

Yes I've heard this too. It didn't affect me after covid but some salons are doing extra patch tests if you've had it.
