Worst period cramps + COVID: A concidence? (TMI)

I got a positive COVID test on Tuesday. Overall symptoms fairly mild, nothing like bronchitis which was I prone to before the pandemic.Like a wet sneezy cold.

My period has always been a bit on the irregular side, never too painful, sometime I'd pop an ibuprofen and often enough that wasn't necessary.

I've been having the worst period pains I have every experienced since this morning- it's been going on for hours- I am just understanding what other women complain about when they talk about being "punched repeatedly in the ovaries"- I was contemplating going into Emerg but it seems to be fading, or not. I've taken 2 ibuprofen (most I ever have for periods) and waiting for when I can take the next dose in a couple of hours.

I was diagnosed with a small cyst back in 2019 after prolonged bleeding- dunno if this has anything to do with that.

I am 46 and might be perimenopausal?

Anybody else go through anything like this?

I gave had covid this week and started my period yesterday. I have less pain than normal and I usually get horrendous period pain.

Also you can take 60g ibuprofen (the gp agreed this for me if short term), paracetamol at the same time and buscopan helps. I get it so bad it makes me throw up and have passed out before.

Thank you- hope you feel better soon.
good to know others experience COVID + period differently!

I'm in Canada, we call paracetemol Tylenol here (I think?) but dunno what the other one- buscopan? is.

I remember alternating between ibuprofen and Tylenol- but that was for pain management after surgery!

I've got covid too. Periods have been irregular. The pain was bad on the first day. It felt like all my strength was being pulled out of my legs

Hope you feel better soon. the pain has passed thank god, but the bleeding continues much more than anything before.

It was shown that covid impacts blood clotting (even in otherwise healthy patients), and period cramps is effectively your body trying to push out clots. So it is plausible that there might be a correlation. Personally, I also had a period / covid combination and also felt extremely rough, and as you wondered if it might be a ruptured cyst or something like that.
