Halal restaurant recommendations in Manchester?

AIBU to think there aren't many great restaurants that serve halal food in Manchester?

Depends what you mean by 'great' I guess. The halal restaurant scene in Manchester is very based around Curry restaurants, though there are also a few steak houses I think. There are some really enjoyable (if not probably authentic) curry restaurants.

If you're wanting somewhere that's starched napkins and crystal wine glasses then yeah, there isn't much choice.

Would a vegetarian restaurant work? Greens in Didsbury for example.

Just a 40 minute train ride away in Bradford is Cona. Probably the best fine dining halal restaurant you will find in the country

There's great Indian restaurants that serve halal and amazing veggie food. Zouk, Bundobst, Ackbars, Tiffin Room, Dishoom - long queues, Mughli Grill, Sangam

Is Dishoom Halal? Didn't realise that, I thought they did bacon sandwiches for breakfast.

Tiffin Room is great.

There's also some really nice small restaurants around like Baity (Palestinian) and the one opposite the Christie (can't remember the name - does Persian food).

Anyway come back OP! Help us out what kind of cuisine and how starched you want the napkins and I'm sure we'll be able to suggest something.

Ooh you made me think then. Checked and the food is Halal - but they do serve pork which is prepared separately

I quite enjoyed Etci Mehmet. The atmosphere was fun. You have to book in advance, so you would be waiting a couple of weeks.
