Anyone struggle to lose weight while taking mirtzapine?

I've been on it 6 months now and I'm really struggling to get the weight off. My gp wanted to put me on it but wanted that the main side effect was weight gain and that has 100% been the case with me unfortunately.

I'm really trying to shift some of it and taking the necessary steps I usually need - dieting and exercising but it just won't go where as usually I seen to lose weight fairly easily.

Has anyone had this issue? I'm almost at a point where I think I could come off the mirtazapine anyway but will speak with my gp first.

Did anyone notice a loss of weight after coming off it?

Few posts on here about weight for me I have to be careful not too eat sweet things and I have a sit down job but my MH needs sorting out and that outweighs not earning a slice of cake every day. If I wasn’t on Mirtazapine I may be a stone lighter but I’d also be screwed. I’ve been on them since Aug last year

Eating cake not earning a slice

Yes, I put on a considerable amount of weight on mirtazapine. I lost weight when I came off it, but ended up going back on it after six months of severely disrupted sleep. So I’m currently fat and miserable, as opposed to slimmer and suicidal. If you’re going to come off it, do speak to your GP first.
