AIBU to dislike Christie Carmichael in The Split?

Just finished watching the whole series of The Split on iplayer.
Does anyone else fine Christie really unlikeable? Who sleeps with someone else's fiancee the night before the wedding!? He then marries someone else, treats her like crap and divorces her, then starts coming on to the (now married with 3 kids) woman he cheated with. He wants her to leave her kids, her job, her life in London and come to New York - selfish! None of this on its own annoys me. But the whole way through the series he keeps whining and feeling sorry for himself like he's the victim! This it the bit that's so irritating. Like the part when Nathan says (truthfully) 'you broke up my marriage' and he's like 'so how come you've got three kids with her, poor me!' What does she see in this guy. He's not even that good looking!

I know exactly what you mean! I watched the first series and was so disappointed at the ending I couldn't bring myself to watch any more! He just irritated me from the moment I saw him!😠

YANBU but they are all flawed characters who make bad decisions at one point (imo that's one part of what makes it interesting)

I agree that his whining is annoying as is his fantasy that Hannah would give up everything and move to NY with him - but then that's the main reason why Hannah ended the series single IMO - she wanted reality, not his fantasy

I mean, you're not wrong, but I still so would.

And might be worth reporting your post and asking MN to add 'contains spoilers' to the title, I haven't finished the series, though I'm not fussed about knowing how it ends.

Some men just never grow out of serial shagging - and he's one of them. But he has the face to get away with it. He wants the Hannah that he knew 20 odd years ago, not the Hannah with 3 kids and a life.

I've met a few men like him....... and the poor suckers married to them.

Hannah also kind of annoys me. She spends the whole first two series wondering if she should have chosen Christie and then, at the end of series two, when she's finally driven Nathan away, she says to Christie, 'Oh, actually, it's always been Nathan!' Only time I actually felt a bit sorry for the guy. The other characters in the series are flawed, but somehow likable.

Oh, gosh! Hadn't thought about the spoilers!! So sorry to anybody who hasn't finsished the series. I assumed I was the only really behind person that hadn't seen it through to the end yet.
