To go on holiday ?

NC

Planning to go abroad for 5 nights, me H and 1 of our children. The other child doesn't want to come. They are 16 and have special needs, but will be at home with relatives looking after them. Should I feel guilty for them not coming ? they have said they do not want to come at all. We have a family holiday planned for 2 weeks abroad all 4 of us in the summer, so the child who doesn't want to come will still get a holiday this year.

Thoughts ?

To add - My parents have frowned upon us going away without our child and made me feel like we are excluding him. Our child is adamant he doesn't want to come with us, we have asked and re-checked with them many times,.

It seems fine; you’ve asked if he wants to come and he’ll be looked after

I hope it is different family members that will be supporting your ds, because they sound very disinterested in his point of view, very unsupportive of him as an autonomous person in the world!

It's perfectly reasonable for a 16 year old to choose to stay home, it is good that you respect their autonomy.
