AIBU to be concerned about a shortage of epi pens

Just been to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription I requested last week, as my epi pens have just expired, to be told they cannot get any and there is a national shortage.
They cannot tell me when I can get new ones and the pharmacist told me I can use them for 6 months post expirey.

I was not aware of this and haven’t seen it reported anywhere otherwise I would have requested them sooner.

The paediatric ones are fine it is just the adult ones that are unavailable.

AIBU to be concerned about this ?

I am flying long haul soon and can’t be without my epi pens.

This happens regularly. I'm surprised you've not come across it before. I work on the resus team in a hospital and even we struggle to get stock at times.

What the pharmacist has told you is the correct advice.

I have only needed them for the last 2 years so have not come a cross this issue.
it is reassuring that they are ok post expiry .
thank you for reassuring me

Your welcome! It is a problem that has been going on for years. Have you tried ringing around other pharmacies just in case?

I have Mylan ones - will ask the pharmacist if there is another brand I can have .

it is making me anxious as I have idiopathic anaphylaxis so I don’t know what triggers my reactions.

Thank you for the the responses.
