Job is making me unwell

Started a new job just over two months ago, had to do some training, that was fine but since joining my team and undertaking my role (call centre job) I’m really struggling to cope. I maybe stupidly didn’t realise how high pressure the job would be and how demanding the targets would be, I’m not sleeping properly as I’m so stressed out and I’m just mentally drained from it all. I left my previous job half due to stress half due to caring responsibility’s, I went into this job thinking I could cope but honestly doubting I can morally some of the things I’m doing I’m struggling with.
aibu to consider quitting?

Morally? What do you mean - is this some sort of high-pressures sales thing?

Sortilege · 02/05/2022 22:06

Is it sales? Calling out? My friend did call centre work for about six years and she hated it at first. So as soon as she had training + 6 months under her belt , she switched to a call centre taking incoming calls from existing customers only. That was 100 times better. I’d never thought about the difference until that.

So could you hang on until 6 months and then look elsewhere?

Greyandgloom · 02/05/2022 22:17

@chisanunian Some of the people I speak to can be vulnerable. Don’t truly understand what I’m saying and feel they have no choice but to pay as they are unable to get anyone to help. It’s my job to make a sale. I’ve come off calls and cried tbh.

@Sortilege I’m actually inbound atm but yes it’s sales. I’m not sure I can even manage 6months tbh, I wfm so feel the pressure as I’m alone - nobody to ask for help.

Is there not a line manager you can talk to?

If it’s really that bad, start applying for jobs now, and if you find something quickly, just leave and drop this one from your CV.

HikingforScenery · 02/05/2022 23:13

Sounds very hard, OP. I hope you find something else soon

Happymum12345 · 02/05/2022 23:51

Find another job and then hand your notice in. There must be something better for you out there. Good luck!

Find another job and hand your notice in.

In the interim don't make any sales you're not happy with. Not worth feeling morally bad about it.
