Sorry to use and abuse AIBU with this - just posting for traffic!

I’m going on holiday to Paris later this year, and was just wondering if you had any advice about reasonably priced hotels to stay in?

I’m visiting with a relative who can be a bit fussy about hotels, but I really don’t want to spend too much, so just wondering if you know of anywhere nice that’s reasonable? Looking to visit for about 3 nights - probably Fri to Sun night, coming back on Monday.

Thank you!

What "cheapish" for you? What's the budget per night?

Alwayspaintyournails · 02/05/2022 14:33

What price range do you consider reasonable?

Mydogsnotfat · 02/05/2022 14:35

I just stayed at Hotel Victor Hugo which was very nice

We stayed here feb half term. Super location…. A short walk to the Eiffel Tower. Beautiful communal areas and The rooms were fine…. Think travelodge/ premier inn. We booked on booking.com for cash back too

Try the Ibis chain. There are several in Paris, and they're usually clean, pleasant and comparatively cheap.

Second Ibis. Also, I find north Paris / 18th arrondissement cheap to stay. It's a bit grubby but I think it's "proper" Paris and close to Sacre Coeur.

If you wanted something a bit more French then i reccomend the Hotel Belloy St Germain. Stayed there a couple of years ago and it was lovely. Good location, really lovely staff. The rooms weren't huge, but they were very clean. There's a great bistro just around the corner too

I used the Hotel Ibis on Rue Caulaincourt (just down the hill from Sacré Coeur) a couple of times when my eldest daughter was on a student year abroad there. Ibis hotels are generally reasonably priced. Breakfast was extra, but not too much and was good.

Very clean and well located, buses to everywhere central from just outside, two minutes walk from Place de Clichy metro station and not far from the funicular railway that goes up and down the hill to Sacré Coeur.

Not been to Paris for years, but I always found the cheap hotels outside the centre much better value. Try the 13th arrondisement, not too far away from the centre, but still reasonably cheap.

I was going to suggest the Ibis chain too. I have stayed in a few and they are no frills but certainly clean and comfortable.

Best Western Saint Germain was a fabulous location. Small but good rooms with lovely bathroom. Bang smack in the middle of everything.

I'd agree with north Paris and was going to recommend the Eldorado on Rues Des Dames (Place de Clichy), but I think it might be shut. I'll put a word in for it anyway just in case, since I've stayed there many times Smile

I second staying in the 18th arrondissement, anywhere near Rue de Abbesses is great. If you’ve got a bit more budget, the Hotel Rochester just off the Champs Elysee is lovely with nice big rooms (I’ve found rooms in Paris to be generally tiny, but you’re only really in them to sleep!). Have a great time, OP!

I really like the Astotel chain. They have 16 hotels in Paris and each one has a theme. I think you can also go and help yourself to snacks in any of the hotels if you show your room key to prove that you're staying in one of the others.
