When I read stories about people jade goody, Sarah Harding, my anxiety literally spirals, why is life so cruel? It makes me terrified of leaving my kids. I always wonder if I have cancer and I don’t know and constantly checking myself, I have health anxiety and it is crippling

Are you getting help for your anxiety? That's all I have to ask really as I've read on here before that engaging with these threads on health anxieties are part of the problem and really only make things for you, feeding your anxieties. So better to do something else.

I often have similar thoughts. I don't have kids. But more, and more there are stories of younger people getting cancer and all sorts of other illnesses, perhaps this in part to social media and the fact we speak a little more openly than in times gone by. But I feel it's almost a 'matter of time' until most us get ill, which is a horrible thought.

yes yabvu but it's not voluntary, is it, you've got a mental illness.
I don't think AIBU is a good place to ask questions like this: being reasonable isn't a choice you are able to make. There's nothing to discuss except that having a mental illness is very difficult.

I hope you can get effective treatment soon.

Your health anxiety might actually be agoraphobia. It can show itself in odd ways, and the fact you say you are terrified of leaving your kids makes me wonder.
In any case, please talk to your GP and see what help is available, because anxiety is hell and its no way to live.
