To think there should be a "lockdown" on CFs?

As an immigrant who is currently going through another status renewal, another thread on here started my thinking about how much more difficult the process is because of all the chancers who abuse the system.

For instance, I need to pass a test on the history and culture of the UK before I can renew my current permission to stay. This could be a very quick and painless process if I could be trusted to do the test online. However, despite the fact that I've only needed about three minutes to complete each practice test, for the actual test, I will need to take an entire day to drive an hour and a half to a secure testing centre spend up to two hours in the centre – presumably to give them time to take my photo, scrutinise my ID, and make sure I don’t have wires running up my wrists or neck through which I might be getting answers – then drive an hour and a half home, all because other people cheat on the test.

There are so many other examples in life where cheaters and thieves and takers and every manner of CF make life less pleasant, more costly, and more aggravating for the rest of us.

Obviously, the CFs are a problem. But, is it wrong also to think that the people who enable the CFs – who support them for years while they live in a country illegally, who give them rides or watch their kids because they’re too wet to say no, who turn a blind eye to dishonesty for a quiet life – are doing us all a disservice? And that if everyone were to agree not to cook and wash clothes and bear children for lazy crapholes, not to give rides or money to weird, shitty colleagues, not to let bizarrely inappropriate neighbours use their parking spots and gardens without consequences for a given “lockdown” period, that maybe CFs would stop being such ass-candle-fucknugget takers and sort themselves out?

Could this ever happen? Or will there always be enough people who think, “Giving this CF what he wants helps me in the very short term by making me feel wanted, or ‘kind,’ or whatever, so fuck everyone else for whom this breaks down civil society just that little bit more”?

Or maybe I should stop pointlessly ruminating and get back to memorising lists of famous British Paralympians?

We had to go through hoops in order for me to come join my (now) DH as we met in another country (my home country) while he was working and living there for a few years. I cannot tell you the amount of proof and documentation needed to secure a fiancé visa and then all the hoops and proof to get leave to remain. The process taking years and going between both labour and tory governments (so the other thread bashing the Tories for this is so not correct).

yet others think it is just fine and dandy to not give any care to following the processes and then screaming about how unfair it is not to automatically get to stay here when they have actually come and overstayed illegally - when others follow the rules that have to be set out because of all the chancers. Pisses me right off.

I had to study quite a bit to take the life in the uk test. A lot of facts and figures not even taught in the national curriculum at British schools! My own DH would not be able to pass the test without studying.

It is an odd test and covers such a random set of facts that it definitely takes some study.

But to answer the OP, I think if there were an easy way to get rid of CFs, whom I think are widely hated by the rest of the population, it would have been done by now.

You are being unreasonable, CF threads are my absolute favourite on here.

Good luck with your application

I usually love a good CF thread, but the ones where the poster allows herself to be taken advantage of so extremely, like feeding and housing a grifter for years while supporting his groundless asylum claim or something equally ridiculous ends up making me cross at both of them. I hope the most outlandish ones are made up.
