First holiday with baby in the morning and cant sleep

Heading to Jersey tomorrow for first trip with baby (4 months although only 3 months corrected). I know I am being unreasonable but I am so so so anxious. We picked Jersey as figured it was easy to get her formula etc there and easy to get around with a car and any issues everyone speaks English.

I am not a nervous traveller. I am well travelled and usually really chilled but I am going mental and can't sleep. Keep being anxious that I've forgotten something for the baby or her sleep with regress and ill be up all night. My periods are also all over the place so anxious that will arrive and be the end of any hanky panky etc.

Add in that when checking the opening times of the boots we've ordered all the formula and nappies to and it closes 2 hours after our flight lands and doesn't open again til Tues cos of the bank holiday. Literally every other boots on the island is open on Sunday and Monday except that one. I am so pissed off I didn't check about the bank holiday.

But I am sure I can get aptamil at Morrisons or waitrose worst case...

I am spiriling and just wanted to vent.

Thanks

You'll have an amazing little break! I've just got back from a week in Portugal with my 6 month old DGS.

He loved it.

veronicagoldberg · 30/04/2022 07:37

You'll be fine.

BobHadBitchTits · 30/04/2022 07:40

You'll be fine.

My son has prescription formula and we managed five days away last week.

Enjoy your holiday. I've always wanted to go to Jersey!

LoisLanyard · 30/04/2022 07:41

You will be fine. We went to Spain with our then 4 month old and it went well! Enjoy your break!

CornishTiger · 30/04/2022 07:41

It will be fine. You can always return the boots order.

Hollyhead · 30/04/2022 07:43

Can you just take a few cartons of formula with you in case of delay?

ChocBloc · 30/04/2022 07:43

Take formula and nappies with you?

ChocBloc · 30/04/2022 07:43

Though ordering it to the boots was an absolute genius idea I might add

doggiescats · 30/04/2022 07:47

Holidays when my lot were babies were so easy! Just go ,enjoy and stop overthinking !

expatmover · 30/04/2022 07:49

You'll be absolutely fine! Smile

I flew on my own to Australia with a 4 month old baby. No issues.

Enjoy your holiday.

You’ll be fine. My tip here for baby travel is to have a digital list that you can tick off everything you’re taking as you pack it. Then on your return you untick it all as you repack for home. Next holiday you just edit your list rather than have to think of it all again.

Notimeforaname · 30/04/2022 08:05

Just put the stuff in your bag and bring it with you. What am I missing?

Bells3032 · 30/04/2022 08:51

Thanks all. The light of day put things in perspective. It's easy to panic at 3am haha.

Just a bit nervous I'm gonna forget something or that baby is gonna be all anxious and screaming on the plane.

First time on a plane since covid and if all feels very weird

I can see this yes and 3 months in I expect your hormones are still settling down a bit which doesn't help with the anxiety. Hope you have a lovely time x

Theluggage15 · 30/04/2022 09:23

Can you phone the Boots and get them to send your order to one of the other ones? You can phone them directly. I’m sure they’ll be able to help. You’ll have a good time, weather is going to be fine!

shivawn · 30/04/2022 10:26

You'll be fine! I went to Mexico when my baby was 13 weeks old, I was breast feeding so didn't need to worry about formula but did have a bunch of other stuff to deal with such as the heat, time difference, long flights, driving on the other side and very little English spoken!

Sleep did regress towards the end of the trip but that's life, sometimes you have to go with the flow a bit and break routine otherwise we'd never get to do anything! We were probably starting the 4 month sleep regression around then too so sleep would have been crap at home too. You say "we" so I'm guessing you're travelling with the father, if sleep is disrupted then you can share the load since you're both off work.

We had the best time and got so many great photos and memories! We're taking him on his 3rd holiday abroad next week, he's 7 months old now. :)

Exactly, I can never understand why people get so het up about travelling with babies, ours were backwards and forwards between UK and where we were living overseas on planes, ferries car etc., never occurred to me to fret. Go and enjoy your trip and stop worrying.

mycatisannoying · 01/05/2022 13:04

Presumably you are going with your partner? It will be absolutely fine! Go and enjoy.
